Trauma director receives top honor

In August, trauma director Donald Jenkins, M.D., a former Air Force combat surgeon, received the Distinguished Service Medal for his extraordinary contributions to military and civilian medicine.

Mayo initiates stored whole-blood transfusion program

In an effort to improve outcomes for massively hemorrhaging patients, Mayo Clinic has instituted a stored whole-blood transfusion program. The goal is to one day expand it to include fresh whole-blood transfusions.

Farmfest outreach takes unexpected turn

At Farmfest Minnesota 2014, volunteers from the southern and southwestern Minnesota trauma regions used games, posters and demonstrations to spread the word about agricultural injury prevention and treatment. Some attendees responded, but so did other vendors.
