Patients with macular edema may benefit from less frequent combination therapy
Compared with bevacizumab monotherapy, the combination of bevacizumab with a dexamethasone implant leads to more rapid improvements in vision and CST in patients with macular edema due to RVOs, while requiring fewer bevacizumab injections. Intraocular pressure should be monitored in patients with AMD who receive ranibizumab
Although uncommon, sustained intraocular pressure increase after intravitreal ranibizumab injections is possible. Treating ophthalmologists should check pre-injection IOP at each patient visit.
Bundling reimbursement for common eyelid operations may mitigate health care savings
Research indicates that some surgeons have made a significant change in the delivery of ptosis and blepharoplasty surgical services after the bundling of payment for these two procedures by the CMS.
