Certain subtypes of soft tissue sarcoma are susceptible to targeted therapies, so a precise diagnosis is crucial for determining exactly the right treatment for you. The range of treatments offered to people with soft tissue sarcoma includes several types of surgery. These types include minimally invasive surgery and limb-sparing surgery. The latest radiation therapy techniques also are offered, including intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), brachytherapy, proton therapy and intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT). Chemotherapy and targeted therapy also are available.
