Aortic valve stenosis care at Mayo Clinic

Your Mayo Clinic team

Mayo Clinic cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, imaging providers and others collaborate to determine the most appropriate treatment for your condition. This team approach often means health care providers can evaluate you and develop a treatment plan within two or three days.

  • Individualized approach. Health care providers at Mayo Clinic take the time to get to know you and work with you to deliver exactly the care you need.
  • Advanced diagnosis and treatment. Mayo Clinic care providers use advanced imaging techniques, including 3D echocardiography and transesophageal echocardiography, to accurately diagnose aortic valve disease and other heart conditions.

Mayo's cardiac surgeons perform innovative surgical procedures for aortic valve repair or replacement. They may use less invasive procedures, such as TAVR, to replace a narrowed aortic valve.

  • Innovative research. Mayo Clinic care providers continue to do innovative research in diagnostic tests, such as echocardiography, CT and other imaging tests, to evaluate heart disease. For example, researchers have studied an imaging test called multidetector computerized tomography (MDCT) to evaluate aortic valve stenosis and measure calcium buildup in the valve. In MDCT, several cross-sectional images are taken of the aortic valve, and the aortic valve is measured.
