I feel really privileged to have an opportunity to do what I do. I'm Dr. Mikel Prieto. I am a transplant surgeon at Mayo Clinic, and I dedicate myself to doing kidney and pancreas transplants. It has been the love of my life-- my job-- and I've been doing this for close to 30 years.

Since I was very young, I really had a passion for medicine and for surgery. Here's where you feel that with your hands, with your knowledge, with your expertise, and with the team that surrounds you, you can make a huge change for the better in the life of other people.

Every time I see a patient, to me, there is like a sacred bond between me and the patient saying, I'll take care of you. We can work on this together. Our goal is to get you back to health again. And the opportunity to do this, to change people's lives, and to do it in a way that is caring, that is with the best technology available, really, it's tremendous satisfaction for me and for the rest of our team.
