I'm Doctor Stephen Cassivi. I've been at Mayo Clinic as a thoracic surgeon for 15 years. I deal with a wide spectrum of patient conditions, from lung cancer and esophageal cancer to some of the more so-called benign conditions that aren't cancers. The ability to treat those conditions and provide better outcomes for patients with those conditions is really what drives me as a thoracic surgeon.

Every patient comes with a different background, with a different condition. That is what makes it interesting, what makes it challenging. I think we are able in this environment to provide the best care possible for each individual patient that we have the privilege to meet and to care for.
