Matthew J. Thoendel M.D., Ph.D., is an infectious disease specialist with special interests in multiple aspects of infectious diseases. These include:

  • Infections in immunocompromised individuals due to hematological malignancies and treatments
  • Infections in individuals who have undergone hematological stem cell transplants
  • Cardiovascular infections (e.g. endocarditis, cardiac device infections, and endovascular graft infections)

He also has research interests investigating new techniques (metagenomics shotgun sequencing) to identify pathogens causing these infections.
