Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Rare

  1. Convulsions (seizures)
  2. difficult or unusually fast breathing
  3. fast heartbeat or irregular pulse
  4. high fever
  5. high or low blood pressure
  6. increased sweating
  7. loss of bladder control
  8. severe muscle stiffness
  9. unusually pale skin
  10. unusual tiredness or weakness

Incidence not known

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain
  2. black, tarry stools
  3. blood in the urine
  4. bloody nose
  5. blurred vision
  6. chest pain or discomfort
  7. chills
  8. clay-colored stools
  9. cough or hoarseness
  10. dark urine
  11. decreased awareness or responsiveness
  12. difficulty with speaking
  13. dizziness
  14. double vision
  15. drooling
  16. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  17. fever with or without chills
  18. fixed position of the eye
  19. headache
  20. heavier menstrual periods
  21. increases and decreases in blood pressure
  22. itching
  23. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  24. lightheadedness, dizziness, or fainting
  25. loss of appetite
  26. loss of balance control
  27. lower back or side pain
  28. mimicry of speech or movements
  29. muscle trembling, jerking, or stiffness
  30. mutism
  31. nausea
  32. negativism
  33. noisy breathing
  34. painful or difficult urination
  35. peculiar postures or movements, mannerisms, or grimacing
  36. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  37. restlessness
  38. seeing double
  39. seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there
  40. seizures
  41. severe sleepiness
  42. shortness of breath
  43. shuffling walk
  44. skin rash
  45. slow or irregular heartbeat
  46. sore throat
  47. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  48. stiffness of the limbs
  49. swollen glands
  50. tenderness, pain, swelling, warmth, skin discoloration, and prominent superficial veins over the affected area
  51. tightness in the chest
  52. tremors
  53. twisting movements of the body
  54. uncontrolled movements, especially of the face, neck, and back
  55. unpleasant breath odor
  56. unusual bleeding or bruising
  57. vomiting of blood
  58. wheezing
  59. yellow eyes or skin

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptom of overdose

  1. Abnormal movements
  2. confusion as to time, place, or person
  3. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  4. feeling of warmth
  5. holding false beliefs that cannot be changed by fact
  6. hyperexcitability
  7. irregular, fast or slow, or shallow breathing
  8. nightmares
  9. pale or blue lips, fingernails, or skin
  10. pupils of the eyes, large and not moving or responding to light
  11. redness of the face, neck, arms, and occasionally, upper chest
  12. sweating
  13. troubled breathing
  14. unusual excitement, nervousness, or restlessness

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Incidence not known

  1. Blistering, crusting, irritation, or reddening of the skin
  2. continuing ringing or buzzing or other unexplained noise in the ears
  3. discoloration of the skin
  4. drowsiness
  5. dry mouth
  6. excitation
  7. false or unusual sense of well-being
  8. hearing loss
  9. hives or welts
  10. increased sensitivity of the skin to sunlight
  11. lack of coordination
  12. loss of strength or energy
  13. muscle pain or weakness
  14. nasal stuffiness
  15. nervousness
  16. severe sunburn
  17. sleeplessness
  18. trouble sleeping
  19. unable to sleep
  20. vomiting

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
