Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Blurred vision
  2. chest tightness
  3. cold hands or feet
  4. confusion
  5. difficult or labored breathing
  6. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  7. sweating
  8. unusual tiredness or weakness

Less common

  1. Anxiety
  2. chest pain or discomfort
  3. chills
  4. cold sweats
  5. cough
  6. dizziness or lightheadedness
  7. fainting
  8. fast heartbeat
  9. leg pain
  10. noisy breathing
  11. slow or irregular heartbeat

Rare

  1. Bloody urine
  2. decreased frequency or amount of urine
  3. increased blood pressure
  4. increased thirst
  5. loss of appetite
  6. lower back or side pain
  7. nausea
  8. swelling of the face, fingers, or lower legs
  9. vomiting
  10. weight gain

Incidence not determined

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. bleeding gums
  3. blood in urine or stools
  4. blurred or loss of vision
  5. bone or joint pain
  6. coma
  7. cool, pale skin
  8. depression
  9. disturbed color perception
  10. double vision
  11. feeling that others are watching you or controlling your behavior
  12. feeling that others can hear your thoughts
  13. feeling, seeing, or hearing things that are not there
  14. fever
  15. halos around lights
  16. headache
  17. increased hunger
  18. nervousness
  19. nightmares
  20. night blindness
  21. overbright appearance of lights
  22. paleness or cold feeling in fingertips and toes
  23. pinpoint red or purple spots on skin
  24. seizures
  25. severe mood or mental changes
  26. shakiness
  27. skin irritation or rash, including rash that looks like psoriasis
  28. skin rash, hives, or itching
  29. slurred speech
  30. sore throat
  31. swollen or painful glands
  32. tingling or pain in fingers or toes when exposed to cold
  33. tunnel vision
  34. unusual behavior
  35. unusual bleeding or bruising

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Anxiety
  2. coma
  3. cool, pale skin
  4. depression
  5. dilated neck veins
  6. extreme fatigue
  7. headache
  8. increased hunger
  9. irregular breathing
  10. nervousness
  11. nightmares
  12. seizures
  13. shakiness
  14. slurred speech
  15. unusual drowsiness, dullness, tiredness, weakness, or feeling of sluggishness

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Discouragement
  2. feeling sad or empty
  3. irritability
  4. lack of appetite
  5. loss of interest or pleasure
  6. trouble concentrating
  7. trouble sleeping

Less common

  1. Diarrhea
  2. dream activity
  3. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  4. sensation of spinning
  5. sleepiness

Incidence not determined

  1. Decreased interest in sexual intercourse
  2. dry mouth
  3. inability to have or keep an erection
  4. loss in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
  5. loss of hair, temporary
  6. pain of penis on erection
