Mayo Clinic researchers are studying ways to improve gastrectomy for stomach and gastroesophageal junction cancers. Their work includes minimally invasive and robotic approaches, lymph node mapping, immunotherapy, reconstruction after gastrectomy, and stomach-preserving procedures such as proximal gastrectomy. Researchers also are studying the genetically and clinically distinct disease that causes early-onset stomach cancer in younger patients.
