Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor as soon as possible if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Blue or purple spots on skin
  2. difficulty in concentrating or paying attention

Less common

  1. Burning, numbness, or tingling sensations
  2. clumsiness or unsteadiness
  3. confusion
  4. itching
  5. mental depression
  6. speech or language problems

Rare

  1. Agitation
  2. bloody or cloudy urine
  3. burning, pain, or difficulty in urinating
  4. frequent urge to urinate
  5. generalized weakness
  6. hostility
  7. memory problems
  8. quick to react or overreact emotionally
  9. rash
  10. uncontrolled back-and-forth and/or rolling eye movements
  11. walking in unusual manner

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Agitation (severe)
  2. clumsiness or unsteadiness (severe)
  3. coma
  4. confusion (severe)
  5. drowsiness (severe)
  6. increase in seizures
  7. mental depression
  8. severe muscle twitching or jerking
  9. sluggishness
  10. speech problems (severe)
  11. weakness

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Chills
  2. diarrhea
  3. dizziness
  4. drowsiness
  5. fever
  6. headache
  7. muscle aches or pain
  8. nervousness
  9. sore throat
  10. tremor
  11. unusual tiredness or weakness
  12. vomiting

Less common

  1. Abdominal pain
  2. flushing
  3. impaired vision
  4. increased appetite
  5. increased cough
  6. mouth ulcers
  7. muscle weakness
  8. nausea
  9. pain
  10. trouble in sleeping

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
