Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bladder pain
  2. bloody or cloudy urine
  3. chills
  4. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  5. fever
  6. frequent or painful urination
  7. headache, severe and throbbing
  8. itching of the vagina or outside the genitals
  9. lower back or side pain
  10. pain during sexual intercourse
  11. stomach pain
  12. thick, white curd-like vaginal discharge without odor or with mild odor
  13. upper or lower abdominal pain

Less common

  1. Anxiety
  2. back pain
  3. chest pain
  4. confusion
  5. cough
  6. dizziness or lightheadedness
  7. expulsion of tissue with clots from your vagina
  8. fainting
  9. fast heartbeat
  10. hives, itching, skin rash
  11. hoarseness
  12. irritation
  13. joint pain, stiffness or swelling
  14. mental depression
  15. mood or other mental changes
  16. numbness of the hands
  17. pain, redness, or swelling in the arm or leg
  18. redness of the skin
  19. severe stomach pain
  20. swelling of the eyelids, face, lips, hands, or feet
  21. tightness in the chest
  22. troubled breathing or swallowing

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Cramps
  2. diarrhea
  3. heavy bleeding
  4. nausea
  5. normal menstrual bleeding occurring earlier, possibly lasting longer than expected
  6. vomiting
