Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Agitation
  2. back pain
  3. bladder pain
  4. body aches or pain
  5. burning or stinging of the skin
  6. chest pain, discomfort, or tightness
  7. chills
  8. coma
  9. confusion
  10. cough
  11. cough producing mucus
  12. dark urine
  13. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  14. dizziness
  15. drowsiness
  16. ear congestion
  17. fever
  18. general feeling of illness
  19. hallucinations
  20. headache
  21. hoarseness
  22. irritability
  23. lightheadedness, dizziness, or fainting
  24. loss of appetite
  25. loss of voice
  26. lower back or side pain
  27. mood or mental changes
  28. nausea
  29. nervousness
  30. nosebleeds
  31. numbness or tingling in the face, arms, or legs
  32. painful cold sores or blisters on the lips, nose, or genitals
  33. pounding in the ears
  34. runny or stuffy nose
  35. seizures
  36. skin rash on the face, scalp, or stomach
  37. slow or irregular heartbeat
  38. stiff neck or back
  39. sneezing
  40. sore throat
  41. stomach pain
  42. tender, swollen glands in the neck
  43. trouble breathing
  44. trouble in swallowing
  45. unusual tiredness or weakness
  46. vision problems
  47. voice changes
  48. vomiting
  49. yellow eyes or skin

Less common

  1. Bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet
  2. blurred vision or other change in vision
  3. discouragement
  4. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  5. feeling sad or empty
  6. headache, severe and throbbing
  7. loss of interest or pleasure
  8. painful blisters on the trunk of the body
  9. rapid weight gain
  10. sensation of spinning
  11. tingling of the hands or feet
  12. trouble concentrating
  13. trouble sleeping
  14. unusual weight gain or loss

Rare

  1. Change in size, shape, or color of the existing mole
  2. new mole
  3. mole that leaks fluid or bleeds
  4. persistent non-healing sore
  5. pink growth
  6. reddish patch or irritated area
  7. shiny bump
  8. white, yellow, or waxy scar-like area

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. belching
  3. dry mouth
  4. heartburn
  5. indigestion
  6. pain in the arms or legs
  7. pain or tenderness around the eyes and cheekbones
  8. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
  9. sleeplessness
  10. stomach discomfort or upset
  11. trouble sleeping
