Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Rare (with long-term use)

  1. Irregular heartbeat

Check with your doctor as soon as possible if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common

  1. Skin rash

Rare (usually with long-term use)

  1. Enlargement of clitoris
  2. muscle cramps or pain
  3. sore throat or fever
  4. swelling of feet or lower legs
  5. unusual bleeding or bruising
  6. unusual tiredness or weakness
  7. weight gain (rapid)

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain (severe)
  2. confusion
  3. decrease in consciousness
  4. diarrhea (severe)
  5. nausea (severe)
  6. nervousness
  7. unusual thirst
  8. vomiting (severe)
  9. weakness (sudden)

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Dizziness
  2. drowsiness
  3. headache
  4. lightheadedness
  5. nausea

Rare

  1. Confusion or mental slowing
  2. excessive hair growth
  3. greater-than-normal loss of scalp hair
  4. increased sweating
  5. loss of appetite
  6. upper abdominal or stomach pain
  7. vomiting
  8. worsening of acne
