Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain
  2. bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet
  3. blurred vision
  4. body aches or pain
  5. chills
  6. confusion
  7. convulsions
  8. cough
  9. decreased urine
  10. difficulty with breathing
  11. dizziness
  12. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  13. dry mouth
  14. ear congestion
  15. fever
  16. headache
  17. increased thirst
  18. irregular heartbeat
  19. loss of appetite
  20. loss of voice
  21. muscle pain or cramps
  22. nausea or vomiting
  23. nervousness
  24. numbness or tingling in the hands, feet, or lips
  25. pale skin
  26. pounding in the ears
  27. rapid weight gain
  28. runny or stuffy nose
  29. slow or fast heartbeat
  30. sneezing
  31. sore throat
  32. sweating
  33. tingling of the hands or feet
  34. troubled breathing with exertion
  35. unusual bleeding or bruising
  36. unusual tiredness or weakness
  37. unusual weight gain or loss

Less common

  1. Chest pain
  2. dry mouth
  3. flushed, dry skin
  4. fruit-like breath odor
  5. increased hunger
  6. increased urination
  7. unexplained weight loss

Incidence not known

  1. Blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  2. diarrhea
  3. difficulty with swallowing
  4. hives, itching, or skin rash
  5. joint or muscle pain
  6. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  7. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  8. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  9. red, irritated eyes
  10. redness or swelling at the catheter site
  11. redness, soreness, or itching skin
  12. sores, ulcers, or white spots in the mouth or on the lips
  13. sores, welting, or blisters
  14. tightness in the chest

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Back pain
  2. lack or loss of strength

Less common

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. belching
  3. heartburn
  4. indigestion
  5. stomach discomfort, upset, or pain
