Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Increased or decreased frequency of urination or amount of urine
  2. increased thirst

Less common

  1. Chills
  2. convulsions
  3. fever
  4. muscle twitching
  5. pain at the injection site
  6. pain or numbness in hands or feet
  7. tingling sensation around the mouth
  8. tremor
  9. unusual tiredness and weakness


  1. Sores or ulcers on the mouth or throat, penis, or vulva

Incidence not known

  1. Difficulty with breathing or swallowing
  2. fainting
  3. hives or welts, itching, or skin rash
  4. irregular heartbeat recurrent
  5. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  6. nausea
  7. reddening of the skin, especially around the ears
  8. swelling of the eyes, face, or inside of the nose

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain
  2. anxious feeling
  3. confusion
  4. dizziness
  5. headache
  6. loss of appetite
  7. nausea and vomiting
  8. unusual tiredness or weakness
