Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Incidence not known

  1. Blurred vision
  2. changes in skin color
  3. chest pain or discomfort
  4. confusion
  5. constipation
  6. diarrhea
  7. dizziness
  8. gaseous stomach pain
  9. headache
  10. inability to speak
  11. nausea
  12. nervousness
  13. numbness of the hands
  14. pain in the chest, groin, or legs, especially calves of the legs
  15. pain or discomfort in the arms, jaw, back, or neck
  16. pounding in the ears
  17. prominent superficial veins over the affected area with tenderness and warmth
  18. recurrent fever
  19. seizures
  20. severe headache of sudden onset
  21. slow or fast heartbeat
  22. stomach fullness
  23. stomach pain or tenderness usually after eating a meal
  24. sudden loss of coordination
  25. sudden onset of slurred speech
  26. sudden vision changes
  27. sudden and severe weakness in the arm or leg on one side
  28. sweating
  29. swelling of the foot or leg on one side of the body
  30. temporary blindness
  31. vomiting with or without blood
  32. yellow eyes or skin

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Menstrual changes
  2. nausea
  3. vaginal bleeding

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Cough
  2. fever
  3. itching of the vagina or genital area
  4. pain during sexual intercourse
  5. pain or tenderness around the eyes and cheekbones
  6. sore throat
  7. stuffy or runny nose
  8. thick, white vaginal discharge with or without a mild odor
  9. tightness of the chest
  10. weight gain

Less common

  1. Crying
  2. depersonalization
  3. false or unusual sense of well-being
  4. hoarseness
  5. mental depression
  6. paranoia
  7. quick to react or overreact emotionally
  8. rapidly changing moods, mild feeling of sadness or discouragement that come and go

Incidence not known

  1. Absent, missed, or irregular menstrual periods
  2. bloody vaginal discharge
  3. brown, blotchy spots on exposed skin
  4. chills
  5. clay-colored stools
  6. contact lens intolerance
  7. dark urine
  8. decreased amount or quality of milk
  9. dry mouth
  10. dry skin
  11. fruit-like or unpleasant breath odor
  12. increased hunger
  13. increased thirst
  14. increased urination
  15. loss of appetite
  16. medium to heavy, irregular vaginal bleeding between regular monthly periods, which may require the use of a pad or a tampon
  17. rash
  18. soreness, swelling, or discharge from the breast or breasts
  19. trouble getting pregnant
  20. unexplained weight loss
  21. unusual tiredness or weakness
