Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Diarrhea
  2. nausea
  3. stomach pain
  4. vomiting

Rare

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. blood in the urine or stools
  3. burning, "crawling", or tingling feeling in the skin
  4. difficulty with breathing when exercising
  5. fever with or without chills
  6. headache
  7. large, hive-like swellings on the face, eyelids, mouth, lips, or tongue
  8. muscle weakness
  9. numbness in the fingers or toes (usually mild)
  10. pain
  11. peeling of the skin
  12. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  13. redness of the skin
  14. skin rash or hives
  15. sore throat
  16. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  17. swelling
  18. tenderness
  19. unusual bleeding or bruising
  20. unusual tiredness or weakness

Incidence not known

  1. Bleeding gums
  2. chest pain or tightness
  3. cough
  4. dark urine
  5. headache
  6. high fever
  7. muscle cramps, spasms, or stiffness
  8. muscular pain, tenderness, or wasting
  9. painful or difficult urination
  10. pale skin
  11. sensation of pins and needles
  12. stabbing pain
  13. swollen or painful glands

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Bleeding
  2. burning feeling in the stomach, throat, or skin
  3. chest pain or discomfort
  4. chills
  5. cold, clammy, pale skin
  6. confusion
  7. cough
  8. diarrhea (severe or bloody)
  9. dizziness
  10. eye pain
  11. fever
  12. general feeling of illness
  13. headache
  14. irregular heartbeat
  15. irregular, fast, slow, or shallow breathing
  16. muscle weakness (very severe)
  17. nausea, stomach pain, or vomiting (severe)
  18. seizures
  19. slow heart rate
  20. sore throat
  21. unusual tiredness

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Hair loss or thinning of hair
  2. loss of appetite

Incidence not known

  1. Stomach bloating from increased gas
  2. stomach cramping
