Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bladder pain
  2. bloody or cloudy urine
  3. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  4. frequent urination
  5. increased urge to urinate during the night
  6. increased volume of pale, dilute urine
  7. itching of the vagina or genitals
  8. lower back or side pain
  9. thick, white vaginal discharge with mild or no odor
  10. trouble in holding or releasing urine
  11. walking to urinate at night

Less common

  1. Anxiety
  2. blurred vision
  3. chills
  4. cold sweats
  5. coma
  6. confusion
  7. cool, pale skin
  8. depression
  9. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from lying or sitting position
  10. dry mouth
  11. fast heartbeat
  12. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  13. foul smelling discharge from the penis
  14. headache
  15. increase in heart rate
  16. increased hunger
  17. itching in genital or other skin areas
  18. nausea
  19. nervousness
  20. nightmares
  21. pain in the skin around the penis
  22. rapid breathing
  23. rash of the penis
  24. redness, itching, or swelling of the penis
  25. scaling
  26. seizures
  27. sensation of spinning
  28. shakiness
  29. slurred speech
  30. sunken eyes
  31. thirst
  32. unusual tiredness or weakness
  33. wrinkled skin

Incidence not known

  1. Agitation
  2. flushed, dry skin
  3. fruit-like breath odor
  4. hostility
  5. irritability
  6. lethargy
  7. loss of consciousness
  8. muscle twitching
  9. pain, tenderness, redness, or swelling of the area between the anus and genitals
  10. stomach pain
  11. stupor
  12. sweating
  13. swelling of the face, ankles, or hands
  14. trouble breathing
  15. unexplained weight loss
  16. vomiting

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Blistering, crusting, irritation, itching, or reddening of the skin
  2. cracked, dry, or scaly skin
