Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. bleeding gums
  3. blood in the urine or stools
  4. chest pain
  5. chills
  6. cough
  7. fever
  8. hoarseness
  9. lower back or side pain
  10. painful or difficult urination
  11. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  12. sore throat
  13. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  14. swollen glands
  15. unusual bleeding or bruising
  16. unusual tiredness or weakness

Less common

  1. Cloudy urine
  2. fever sores on the skin
  3. general feeling of illness
  4. greatly decreased frequency of urination or amount of urine
  5. skin rash
  6. swelling of the feet or lower legs
  7. weight loss
  8. yellow skin or eyes

Rare

  1. Bloating
  2. clay-colored stools
  3. constipation
  4. dark urine
  5. decreased appetite
  6. diarrhea (severe)
  7. fast heartbeat
  8. fever (sudden)
  9. headache
  10. indigestion
  11. itching
  12. loss of appetite
  13. muscle or joint pain
  14. nausea (severe)
  15. pains in the stomach, side, or abdomen, possibly radiating to the back
  16. redness or blisters on the skin
  17. stomach pain or tenderness
  18. swelling of the feet or lower legs
  19. unusual feeling of discomfort or illness (sudden)
  20. vomiting (severe)

Incidence not known

  1. Difficulty with breathing
  2. difficulty with moving
  3. fat in the stool
  4. general feeling of illness
  5. pale skin
  6. sores on the skin
  7. stomach cramps
  8. sudden loss of weight
  9. troubled breathing with movement
  10. weight loss

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Nausea (mild)
  2. swollen joints
  3. vomiting (mild)

Less common

  1. Hair loss or thinning of the hair
