Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common

  1. Hives, itching, skin rash
  2. irregular heartbeat
  3. itching
  4. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  5. redness of the skin

Rare

  1. Painful, prolonged erection of your penis

Incidence not known

  1. Dark colored urine
  2. fainting
  3. flu-like symptoms
  4. irregular heartbeat recurrent
  5. loss of bladder control
  6. muscle spasm or jerking of all extremities
  7. paleness or cold feeling in the fingertips and toes
  8. pelvic pain in male
  9. right upper stomach pain or tenderness
  10. seizures
  11. sudden loss of consciousness
  12. tingling or pain in the fingers or toes when exposed to cold
  13. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. belching
  3. bleeding between periods
  4. change in amount of bleeding during periods
  5. change in pattern of monthly periods
  6. chest tightness
  7. cough
  8. decrease in the frequency of urination
  9. decrease in urine amount
  10. decreased appetite
  11. decreased interest in sexual intercourse
  12. difficulty having a bowel movement (stool)
  13. difficulty in passing urine (dribbling)
  14. dizziness
  15. dry mouth
  16. fever
  17. headache
  18. heartburn
  19. heavy bleeding
  20. inability to have or keep an erection
  21. indigestion
  22. irritability
  23. loss in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
  24. nausea
  25. pain or tenderness around the eyes and cheekbones
  26. painful urination
  27. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
  28. stomach discomfort, upset, cramps, or pain
  29. stuffy or runny nose
  30. trouble breathing
  31. trouble sleeping
  32. unusual drowsiness, dullness, tiredness, weakness, or feeling of sluggishness
  33. unusual stopping of menstrual bleeding
  34. vomiting

Less common

  1. Abnormal dreams
  2. abnormal orgasm
  3. back pain
  4. blistering, crusting, irritation, itching, or reddening of the skin
  5. bloated or full feeling
  6. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  7. change in hearing
  8. change or problem with discharge of semen
  9. chills
  10. cold sweats
  11. confusion
  12. cough
  13. cracked, dry, or scaly skin
  14. crying
  15. decreased weight
  16. diarrhea
  17. difficulty with moving
  18. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  19. ear drainage
  20. earache or pain in the ear
  21. excess air or gas in the stomach or intestines
  22. feeling of warmth, redness of the face, neck, arms, and occasionally, upper chest
  23. feeling unusually cold
  24. frequent urination
  25. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  26. groin pain
  27. increased or sudden sweating
  28. joint pain
  29. loss of appetite
  30. mood swings
  31. muscle aches, cramping, pains, or stiffness
  32. pain or burning with urination
  33. passing gas
  34. shivering
  35. sinus headache
  36. sleep disorder
  37. swelling of the skin
  38. swollen joints
  39. swollen, tender prostate

Incidence not known

  1. Loss or thinning of the hair
