中枢作用药物是用于减慢心跳和降低血压的药物。这类药物可阻断大脑向神经系统发出收缩血管和加快心跳的信号。因此，心脏不需要那么费力地泵血。血液更容易在人体的静脉和动脉中流动。这会使血压下降。

中枢作用药物还可用于预防、治疗或改善其他健康状况的症状，例如：
- 注意缺陷多动障碍（ADHD）。

- 图雷特综合征。
中枢作用药物会产生强烈的副作用。一些可能的副作用包括：
- 减缓心率。
- 便秘。
- 头晕。
