Facts about child abuse and neglect
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, at least 1 in 7 children in the United States experiences child abuse. This is likely a low estimate because many cases are not reported. Research shows that child abuse is most often done by someone known and trusted by the child or child's family members.
