Dr Jonathan Hill is a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist and Chair of Cardiology at Mayo Clinic Healthcare London. He is one of the United Kingdom's most experienced complex coronary interventionalists, with over 25 years of practice in the diagnosis and treatment of advanced coronary artery disease.
Dr Hill trained at the University of Edinburgh and the University of Cambridge, before completing subspecialty interventional cardiology training in London and at the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. He has served on the faculty of the world's most prestigious interventional cardiology meetings, including TCT, EuroPCR and the ACC, and has delivered live case demonstrations across Europe, Asia and North America.
He has an extensive track record in clinical research, having served as Principal Investigator and Steering Committee member on multiple landmark trials in coronary intervention, intracoronary imaging and coronary physiology. He is internationally recognised as one of the foremost authorities on intracoronary OCT and combined imaging and physiology-guided PCI.

Dr Hill's research interests include intracoronary imaging and its role in guiding percutaneous coronary intervention, coronary physiology and functional assessment, the identification and treatment of vulnerable plaque, interventional approaches to cardiogenic shock, and the integration of artificial intelligence and advanced imaging in cardiovascular medicine.
A particular focus of his research is the management of heavily calcified coronary artery disease. Dr Hill was one of the earliest clinical investigators in intravascular lithotripsy (IVL), a technology that uses sonic pressure waves to modify calcified plaque and improve stent delivery and expansion in complex coronary lesions. He served as a Principal Investigator on the pivotal IDE study that supported FDA approval of coronary IVL and was instrumental in establishing the evidence base that contributed to the global adoption of this technology. He continues to contribute to research in calcium characterisation and modification, with a particular interest in the use of intracoronary imaging to guide calcium preparation strategies.
Dr Hill has a longstanding interest in the management of high-risk and haemodynamically compromised patients undergoing complex coronary intervention. He has been closely involved in the clinical development and investigation of percutaneous mechanical circulatory support, including the use of microaxial left ventricular assist devices to support patients with cardiogenic shock and severely impaired cardiac function during high-risk procedures. He is the founder of SHOCK-LONDON-1, a multicentre cardiogenic shock registry, and has been involved in the design of clinical programmes aimed at improving outcomes for this high-risk patient population.
He has served as Principal Investigator and Steering Committee member on multiple international clinical trials and registries and has published in leading peer-reviewed journals.
