Research

Mayo Clinic researchers are studying new ways to use ultrasound to better understand, diagnose and treat conditions that affect the brain.

One study is looking at a new ultrasound method that does not require contrast material. Researchers are studying whether it can show the development of very small blood vessels in the brains of babies born early.

Mayo Clinic researchers also are studying focused ultrasound. This research includes investigating the use of focused ultrasound to treat certain types of epilepsy and studying how focused ultrasound affects the area around a brain tumor.
