To remove a tick from your skin, use a fine-tipped tweezers to grab the tick as close to the skin as possible. Gently pull out the tick using a slow and steady upward motion. Put the tick between two pieces of cellophane tape or take a photo of it, if possible. If you become ill after a tick bite, your health care provider may want to see the tick to decide whether antibiotics might be helpful. After removing the tick, wash your hands and the bite site with soap and water.
