Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Actions that are out of control
  2. anxiety
  3. blurred vision
  4. chest pain or discomfort
  5. confusion
  6. difficulty in speaking
  7. dizziness
  8. double vision
  9. enlarged pupils
  10. false beliefs that cannot be changed by facts
  11. fast, slow, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  12. headache
  13. inability to move the arms, legs, or facial muscles
  14. inability to speak
  15. increased sensitivity of the eyes to light
  16. increased sweating, possibly with fever or cold, clammy skin
  17. irritability
  18. lack or slowing of normal growth in children
  19. loss in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
  20. nausea
  21. nervousness
  22. pain or discomfort in the arms, jaw, back, or neck
  23. pounding in the ears
  24. seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there
  25. stiff or sore neck
  26. talking, feeling, and acting with excitement
  27. trouble breathing
  28. trouble sleeping
  29. vomiting
  30. weight loss

  1. Agitation
  2. arm, jaw, or back pain
  3. bleeding gums
  4. blood in the urine or stools
  5. bloody nose
  6. bloody, black, or tarry stools
  7. chest tightness or heaviness
  8. chills
  9. cough
  10. dark-colored urine
  11. decreased interest in sexual intercourse
  12. diarrhea
  13. difficulty in moving
  14. difficulty swallowing
  15. double vision
  16. dry mouth
  17. extra heartbeats
  18. fainting
  19. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  20. fever
  21. hair loss, thinning of hair
  22. heavier menstrual periods
  23. hives, itching, skin rash
  24. inability to have or keep an erection
  25. increased in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
  26. increased interest in sexual intercourse
  27. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, sex organs
  28. light-colored stools
  29. lightheadedness
  30. muscle aches, cramps, pain, stiffness, or twitching
  31. overactive reflexes
  32. pain in the joints
  33. painful or prolonged erection of the penis
  34. pale skin
  35. paleness or cold feeling in the fingertips and toes
  36. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  37. poor coordination
  38. redness of the skin
  39. restlessness
  40. seeing double
  41. seizures
  42. sensation of spinning
  43. shakiness in the legs, arms, hands, feet
  44. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  45. swollen glands
  46. swollen joints
  47. tingling or pain in the fingers or toes when exposed to cold
  48. trembling or shaking of the hands or feet
  49. twitching, twisting, uncontrolled repetitive movements of the tongue, lips, face, arms, or legs
  50. unusual bleeding or bruising
  51. unusual tiredness or weakness
  52. yellow eyes or skin

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

  1. Agitation
  2. blurred vision
  3. change in consciousness
  4. chest pain or discomfort
  5. confusion
  6. dark urine
  7. diarrhea
  8. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  9. extremely high fever or body temperature
  10. fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat
  11. fever
  12. headache
  13. inability to speak
  14. loss of consciousness
  15. muscle cramps, spasms, pain, or stiffness
  16. nausea
  17. nervousness
  18. overactive reflexes
  19. pain or discomfort in the arms, jaw, back, or neck
  20. pale, clammy skin
  21. palpitations
  22. pounding in the ears
  23. seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there
  24. seizures
  25. shivering
  26. slurred speech
  27. sweating
  28. talking or acting with excitement you cannot control
  29. temporary blindness
  30. thirst
  31. trembling or shaking of the hands or feet
  32. trouble breathing
  33. unusual tiredness or weakness
  34. vomiting
  35. weakness in the arm or leg on one side of the body, sudden and severe

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. belching
  3. decreased appetite
  4. heartburn
  5. indigestion
  6. stomach discomfort, upset, or pain
