Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Rare

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. chest pain
  3. chills
  4. cough
  5. difficult or troubled breathing
  6. fever
  7. general feeling of tiredness or weakness
  8. hoarseness
  9. irregular, fast or slow, or shallow breathing
  10. lower back or side pain
  11. painful or difficult urination
  12. pale or blue lips, fingernails, or skin
  13. shakiness in the legs, arms, hands, or feet
  14. sore throat
  15. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  16. swollen glands
  17. trembling or shaking of the hands or feet
  18. unusual bleeding or bruising
  19. unusual tiredness or weakness

Incidence not known

  1. Agitation
  2. blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  3. blurred vision
  4. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  5. confusion
  6. constipation
  7. constricted, pinpoint, or small pupils (black part of the eye)
  8. darkening of the skin
  9. decrease in the frequency of urination
  10. depression
  11. diarrhea
  12. difficulty in passing urine (dribbling)
  13. difficulty with swallowing
  14. dizziness
  15. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  16. excitement
  17. fainting
  18. false or unusual sense of well-being
  19. fast, slow, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  20. feeling of warmth
  21. headache
  22. hives or welts, itching, skin rash
  23. joint or muscle pain
  24. loss of bladder control
  25. loss of consciousness
  26. nervousness
  27. overactive reflexes
  28. poor coordination
  29. pounding in the ears
  30. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  31. rapid breathing
  32. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  33. red, irritated eyes
  34. redness of the face, neck, arms, and occasionally, upper chest
  35. restlessness
  36. sweating
  37. swelling of the face, arms, or lower legs
  38. tightness in the chest
  39. total body jerking
  40. upper abdominal or stomach pain
  41. weight gain

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Chest pain
  2. choking
  3. cold and clammy skin
  4. constricted, pinpoint, or small pupils (black part of the eye)
  5. coughing that sometimes produces a pink frothy sputum
  6. decreased awareness or responsiveness
  7. difficult, fast, or noisy breathing
  8. extremely shallow or slow breathing
  9. increased sweating
  10. loss of consciousness
  11. no muscle tone or movement
  12. pale skin
  13. seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there
  14. severe sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
  15. seizures (convulsions)
  16. slow heartbeat
  17. swelling in the legs and ankles

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

  1. Stomach distress

Incidence not known

  1. Continuing ringing or buzzing or other unexplained noise in the ears
  2. cracked, dry, or scaly skin
  3. difficulty in focusing the eyes
  4. disturbed dreams
  5. drowsiness
  6. dry mouth
  7. hearing loss
  8. irritability
  9. lightheadedness
  10. loss of appetite
  11. mood or mental changes
  12. nausea
  13. relaxed and calm feeling
  14. trouble with sleeping
  15. vomiting
  16. weakness
  17. weight loss

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
