Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. bleeding gums
  3. blood in the urine or stools
  4. blurred vision
  5. chest pain
  6. chills
  7. clay colored stools
  8. cloudy urine
  9. constipation
  10. cough
  11. coughing up blood
  12. dark urine
  13. decreased appetite
  14. depressed mood
  15. difficulty with breathing or swallowing
  16. dizziness
  17. dry skin and hair
  18. feeling cold
  19. fever
  20. hair loss
  21. headache
  22. hoarseness or husky voice
  23. increased menstrual flow or vaginal bleeding
  24. itching, skin rash
  25. loss of appetite
  26. lower back or side pain
  27. muscle cramps and stiffness
  28. nausea and vomiting
  29. nervousness
  30. nosebleeds
  31. painful or difficult urination
  32. pale skin
  33. paralysis
  34. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  35. pounding in the ears
  36. prolonged bleeding from cuts
  37. red or black, tarry stools
  38. red or dark brown urine
  39. redness, swelling, or pain of the skin
  40. scaling of the skin on the hands and feet
  41. slow or fast heartbeat
  42. sore throat
  43. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  44. stomach pain or tenderness
  45. swelling of the feet or lower legs
  46. swollen glands
  47. tingling of the hands and feet
  48. ulceration of the skin
  49. unusual bleeding or bruising
  50. unusual tiredness or weakness
  51. weight gain
  52. yellow eyes or skin

Less common

  1. Bleeding from the rectum or bloody stools
  2. bloody nose
  3. chest discomfort
  4. confusion
  5. fainting
  6. irregular or slow heart rate
  7. numbness or tingling in the face, arms, or legs
  8. pain or discomfort in the shoulders, arms, jaw, back, or neck
  9. sweating
  10. swelling or puffiness of the face
  11. trouble speaking, thinking, or walking

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Change in hair color
  2. change in taste
  3. decreased weight
  4. diarrhea
  5. hair loss
  6. lack or loss of strength
  7. loss of taste
  8. thinning of the hair
  9. weight loss

Less common

  1. Belching
  2. heartburn
  3. indigestion
  4. stomach discomfort, upset, or pain
