Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:


  1. Chest pain or discomfort
  2. pain, redness, or burning at the injection site
  3. shortness of breath
  4. skin rash, hives, redness, or itching
  5. tightness in the chest
  6. troubled breathing
  7. wheezing

Incidence not known

  1. Blurred vision
  2. cold, clammy skin
  3. confusion
  4. coughing
  5. decreased or irregular heartbeat
  6. difficulty with breathing or swallowing
  7. dizziness or fainting
  8. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up from a lying position
  9. fast, pounding, slow, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  10. fast, weak pulse
  11. fixed position of the eye
  12. heart stops
  13. hives or welts
  14. hoarseness
  15. inability to move the eyes
  16. increased blinking or spasms of the eyelid
  17. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  18. lightheadedness
  19. no breathing
  20. no pulse or blood pressure
  21. noisy breathing
  22. pain in the neck, back, or jaw
  23. slow or irregular breathing
  24. sticking out of the tongue
  25. sweating
  26. swelling of the face, throat, or tongue
  27. trouble with breathing, speaking, or swallowing
  28. unconscious
  29. uncontrolled twisting movements of the neck, trunk, arms, or legs
  30. unusual facial expressions
  31. weakness
  32. weakness of the arms and legs

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Constipation
  2. diarrhea
  3. fever
  4. headache

Less common

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain or cramps
  2. burning, tingling, or prickling sensations
  3. drowsiness
  4. dryness of the mouth
  5. feeling cold
  6. itching
  7. unusual tiredness or weakness
