Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bladder pain
  2. bloody or cloudy urine
  3. blurred vision
  4. chest tightness
  5. chills
  6. cough
  7. diarrhea
  8. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  9. dry mouth
  10. fever
  11. flushed, dry skin
  12. frequent urge to urinate
  13. fruit-like breath odor
  14. gaseous stomach pain
  15. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  16. headache
  17. increased hunger
  18. increased thirst
  19. increased urination
  20. joint pain
  21. loss of appetite
  22. lower back or side pain
  23. muscle aches or pains
  24. nausea
  25. pain or tenderness around the eyes and cheekbones
  26. recurrent fever
  27. shivering
  28. sore throat
  29. stomach pain or fullness
  30. stuffy or runny nose
  31. sweating
  32. swelling of the hands, ankles, feet, or lower legs
  33. trouble breathing
  34. trouble sleeping
  35. unexplained weight loss
  36. unusual tiredness or weakness
  37. vomiting
  38. yellow eyes or skin

Less common

  1. Anxiety
  2. body aches or pain
  3. burning feeling in the chest or stomach
  4. cold sweats
  5. confusion
  6. constipation
  7. cool, pale skin
  8. depressed mood
  9. dizziness
  10. dry skin and hair
  11. ear congestion
  12. fainting
  13. fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat
  14. hair loss
  15. hoarseness or husky voice
  16. indigestion
  17. loss of consciousness
  18. loss of voice
  19. muscle cramps or stiffness
  20. nervousness
  21. nightmares
  22. pounding in the ears
  23. seizures
  24. shakiness
  25. slurred speech
  26. sneezing
  27. stomach upset or tenderness
  28. weight gain

Incidence not known

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. bleeding gums
  3. blindness
  4. bloating
  5. blood in vomit
  6. change in the frequency or amount of urine
  7. changes in vision
  8. chest pain or discomfort
  9. dark urine
  10. darkening of the skin
  11. deafness
  12. decreased vision
  13. dizziness, fainting, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from lying or sitting position
  14. double vision
  15. eye pain
  16. hives, skin rash
  17. itching, pain, redness, swelling, tenderness, or warmth of the skin
  18. light-colored stools
  19. loss of appetite
  20. migraine headache
  21. pain or discomfort in the arms, jaw, back, or neck
  22. pale skin
  23. paleness or cold feeling in the fingertips and toes
  24. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  25. problems with speech or speaking
  26. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  27. severe cramping
  28. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  29. tearing
  30. tingling or pain in the fingers or toes when exposed to cold temperature
  31. unusual bleeding or bruising
  32. vomiting of blood or material that looks like coffee grounds
  33. weakness of the muscles in your face

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Difficulty in moving
  2. joint swelling or redness
  3. lack or loss of strength
  4. passing gas
  5. pressure in the stomach
  6. swelling of the abdominal or stomach area

Less common

  1. Bleeding after defecation
  2. uncomfortable swelling around the anus

Incidence not known

  1. Decreased interest in sexual intercourse
  2. inability to have or keep an erection
  3. loss in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
  4. swelling of the breasts or breast soreness in both females and males
  5. unexpected or excess milk flow from breasts
