Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Flushing or redness of the skin
  2. swelling
  3. unusually warm skin

Less common

  1. Blistering, burning, crusting, dryness, or flaking of the skin
  2. change in the color of treated skin
  3. itching, scaling, severe redness, soreness, or swelling of the skin
  4. rash

Rare

  1. Burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  2. chills
  3. cough
  4. fainting or loss of consciousness
  5. fast or irregular breathing
  6. fever
  7. hives or welts
  8. hoarseness
  9. lower back or side pain
  10. painful or difficult urination
  11. swelling of the eyes or eyelids
  12. tightness in the chest
  13. trouble with breathing

Incidence not known

  1. Blurred vision
  2. chest pain or discomfort
  3. cold, clammy, or pale skin
  4. confusion
  5. difficulty with breathing
  6. difficulty with swallowing
  7. dizziness
  8. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  9. fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat
  10. feelings of coldness, heat, or numbness
  11. irregular, fast or slow, or shallow breathing
  12. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or genitals
  13. no breathing
  14. noisy breathing
  15. pale or blue lips, fingernails, or skin
  16. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  17. seizures
  18. shakiness in the legs, arms, hands, or feet
  19. slow heart rate
  20. sweating
  21. trembling or shaking of the hands or feet
  22. twitching
  23. unusual tiredness or weakness

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Change in consciousness
  2. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  3. no blood pressure or pulse
  4. stopping of the heart

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Rare

  1. Headache
  2. nausea
  3. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
  4. vomiting

Incidence not known

  1. Continuing ringing or buzzing or other unexplained noise in the ears
  2. depression
  3. double vision
  4. drowsiness
  5. false or unusual sense of well-being
  6. fear
  7. hearing loss
  8. nervousness

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
