Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Blue-green to black skin discoloration
  2. changes in menstrual periods
  3. chills
  4. cough
  5. decreased sexual ability in males
  6. diarrhea
  7. fever
  8. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  9. headache
  10. irregular or pounding heartbeat
  11. joint pain
  12. loss of appetite
  13. muscle aches and pains
  14. nausea
  15. runny or stuffy nose
  16. shivering
  17. sore throat
  18. stomach pain
  19. sweating
  20. trouble sleeping
  21. unusual tiredness or weakness
  22. vomiting

Less common

  1. Bloody or cloudy urine
  2. changes in vision
  3. cold hands and feet
  4. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  5. frequent urge to urinate
  6. pelvic pain
  7. swollen glands
  8. trouble breathing
  9. unusual weight gain

Incidence not known

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. bleeding problems
  3. bleeding gums
  4. bloating or swelling
  5. blood in the urine or stools
  6. chest pain, discomfort, or tightness
  7. confusion
  8. dry, puffy skin
  9. feeling cold
  10. hoarseness or husky voice
  11. increased muscle tone
  12. increased urge to urinate
  13. light-colored stools
  14. loss of memory
  15. nervousness
  16. nosebleeds
  17. pale skin
  18. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  19. problems with speaking
  20. red, itching, or swollen eyes
  21. restlessness
  22. seizures
  23. sensitivity to heat
  24. swelling of the feet or lower legs
  25. swelling of the front part of the neck
  26. trouble sitting still
  27. unusual bleeding or bruising
  28. unusual weight loss
  29. upper right abdominal or stomach pain
  30. yellowing eyes and skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Constipation
  2. dizziness
  3. loss of voice
  4. menstrual pain or other changes

Incidence not known

  1. Difficulty in moving
  2. loss or thinning of the hair
  3. muscle stiffness
