Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

1. Blurred vision
2. burning or stinging of the eye (when medicine is applied)
3. feeling of something in the eye
4. itching of the eye
5. redness of the eye and lining of the eyelid
6. sensitivity of the eyes to light

Less common

1. Back, abdominal, or stomach pain
2. change in vision
3. coughing, shortness of breath, troubled breathing, tightness in the chest, or wheezing
4. discharge from the eye
5. dizziness
6. eye or eyelid pain, swelling, discomfort, or irritation
7. increased blood pressure
8. increased frequency of urination or painful urination
9. itching of the eyelid
10. seeing flashes or sparks of light
11. seeing floating spots before the eyes
12. swelling of lining of the eyelid
13. tiny bumps on lining of the eyelid

Rare

1. Blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
2. blood in the urine
3. blue lips, fingernails, or skin
4. chest pain or discomfort
5. chills
6. cough
7. diarrhea
8. difficult or troubled breathing
9. fainting
10. headache or weakness, severe and sudden
11. irregular, fast or slow, or shallow breathing
12. itching
13. joint or muscle pain
14. lightheadedness
15. mental depression
16. nausea or vomiting
17. pain, numbness, tingling, or burning feeling in the hands or feet
18. red, irritated eyes
19. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
20. shortness of breath
21. skin rash
22. slow or irregular heartbeat
23. sore throat
24. sores, ulcers, or white spots in the mouth or on the lips
25. sweating
26. unusual tiredness or weakness

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

1. Confusion
2. muscle cramps or pain
3. numbness, tingling, pain, or weakness in the hands or feet
4. seizures
5. trembling
6. weakness and heaviness of the legs

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

1. Bitter, sour, or unusual taste

Less common

1. Cold- or flu-like symptoms
2. crusting or scales on eyelid
3. dryness of the eyes
4. indigestion or upset stomach
5. sore throat
6. stuffy or runny nose
7. tearing of the eye

Rare

1. Burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
2. depression
3. dry mouth
4. stuffy nose
