Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

  1. Rash

Less Common

  1. Blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  2. bloating
  3. blurred vision
  4. chills
  5. constipation
  6. cough
  7. dark urine
  8. diarrhea
  9. dry mouth
  10. fast heartbeat
  11. fever
  12. flushed, dry skin
  13. fruit-like breath odor
  14. general tiredness and weakness
  15. heavy jaw feeling
  16. increased hunger
  17. increased thirst
  18. increased urination
  19. indigestion
  20. itching
  21. joint or muscle pain
  22. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or genitals
  23. light-colored stools
  24. loosening of a tooth
  25. loss of appetite
  26. loss of consciousness
  27. nausea
  28. pain, swelling, or numbness in the mouth or jaw
  29. pains in the stomach, side, or abdomen, possibly radiating to the back
  30. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  31. red, irritated eyes
  32. sore throat
  33. sores, ulcers, or white spots in the mouth or on the lips
  34. stomachache
  35. sweating
  36. trouble breathing
  37. unexplained weight loss
  38. unusual tiredness or weakness
  39. upper right abdominal or stomach pain
  40. vomiting
  41. yellow eyes or skin

Incidence not known

  1. Lower back pain
  2. muscle cramps, spasms, or stiffness
  3. pain or burning while urinating
  4. sudden decrease in amount of urine

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Abnormal dreams
  2. belching
  3. difficulty in moving
  4. excess air or gas in the stomach or bowels
  5. headache
  6. heartburn
  7. passing gas
  8. redistribution or accumulation of body fat
  9. stomach discomfort, upset, or pain
  10. swelling of the breasts or breast soreness in both females and males
  11. swollen joints
  12. weight loss
