Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bruise
  2. deep, dark purple bruise, pain, or swelling at the injection site
  3. nosebleed

Less common

  1. Bleeding of the gums
  2. constipation
  3. coughing up blood
  4. difficulty with breathing or swallowing
  5. dizziness
  6. headache
  7. increased menstrual flow or vaginal bleeding
  8. paralysis
  9. prolonged bleeding from cuts
  10. red or black, tarry stools
  11. red or dark brown urine
  12. severe stomach pain
  13. unexplained pain, swelling, or discomfort, especially in the chest, abdomen or stomach, joints, or muscles
  14. unusual bleeding or bruising
  15. vomiting of blood or material that looks like coffee grounds
  16. weakness

Rare

  1. Back pain
  2. bleeding from mucous membranes
  3. bluish or black discoloration, flushing, or redness of the skin
  4. burning, pricking, tickling, or tingling sensation
  5. cough
  6. feeling faint
  7. fever
  8. leg weakness
  9. numbness
  10. problems with bowel or bladder function
  11. skin rash (which may consist of pinpoint, purple-red spots), hives, or itching
  12. sloughing of the skin at the injection site
  13. swelling of the eyelids, face, or lips
  14. tightness in the chest

Incidence not known

  1. Blue-green to black skin discoloration
  2. decrease in height
  3. pain in the ribs, arms, or legs

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:
