Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Rare

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain
  2. agitation
  3. black, tarry stools
  4. chills
  5. clay-colored stools
  6. coma
  7. confusion
  8. continuing diarrhea
  9. continuing stomach pain
  10. convulsions
  11. dark urine
  12. decreased urine output
  13. depression
  14. diarrhea
  15. dizziness
  16. fast or irregular heartbeat
  17. fever
  18. headache
  19. hostility
  20. increased thirst
  21. irritability
  22. itching
  23. lethargy
  24. loss of appetite
  25. muscle pain or cramps
  26. muscle twitching
  27. nausea or vomiting
  28. rapid weight gain
  29. rash
  30. seizures
  31. shortness of breath
  32. stupor
  33. swelling of the face, ankles, or hands
  34. unpleasant breath odor
  35. unusual tiredness or weakness
  36. vomiting of blood
  37. yellow eyes or skin

Incidence not known

  1. Anxiety
  2. back, leg, or stomach pains
  3. bleeding gums
  4. blood in the urine or stools
  5. blurred vision
  6. chest pain
  7. cold sweats
  8. cool, pale skin
  9. cough or hoarseness
  10. depression
  11. difficulty with breathing
  12. fever with or without chills
  13. fluid-filled skin blisters
  14. general body swelling
  15. general feeling of tiredness or weakness
  16. headache
  17. high fever
  18. increased hunger
  19. lower back or side pain
  20. nervousness
  21. nightmares
  22. nosebleeds
  23. painful or difficult urination
  24. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  25. sensitivity to the sun
  26. shakiness
  27. skin thinness
  28. slurred speech
  29. sore throat
  30. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  31. swollen or painful glands
  32. tightness in the chest
  33. unusual bleeding or bruising
  34. wheezing

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Indigestion
  2. passing of gas

Less common

  1. Hives or welts
  2. redness of the skin
  3. weight loss

Rare

  1. Blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  2. cracks in the skin
  3. loss of heat from the body
  4. red, irritated eyes
  5. red, swollen skin
  6. scaly skin

Incidence not known

  1. Increased sensitivity of the skin to sunlight
  2. redness or other discoloration of the skin
  3. severe sunburn
