Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. chest pain
  3. chills
  4. cough
  5. fever
  6. painful or difficult urination
  7. shortness of breath
  8. sore throat
  9. sores, ulcers, or white spots on lips or in mouth
  10. swollen glands
  11. unusual bleeding or bruising
  12. unusual tiredness or weakness

Less common

  1. Blurred vision
  2. cloudy urine
  3. confusion
  4. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up from a lying or sitting position suddenly
  5. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  6. sweating


  1. Arm, back or jaw pain or discomfort
  2. bloody urine
  3. chest discomfort
  4. chest tightness or heaviness
  5. decreased blood pressure
  6. decreased frequency or amount of urine
  7. dilated neck veins
  8. increased need to urinate
  9. increased thirst
  10. irregular breathing
  11. large, hive-like swelling on face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  12. loss of appetite
  13. lower back or side pain
  14. nausea
  15. paleness or cold feeling in fingertips and toes
  16. passing urine more often
  17. problems in urination or increase in amount of urine
  18. swelling of face, fingers, feet or lower legs
  19. tingling or pain in fingers or toes when exposed to cold
  20. troubled breathing
  21. vomiting
  22. weight gain
  23. wheezing

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Difficulty in moving
  2. itching skin
  3. muscle pain or stiffness
  4. pain in joints
  5. rash

Less common

  1. Change in taste
  2. loss of taste
