Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although the following side effects occur very rarely when 1 or 2 doses of this combination medicine is taken occasionally, they may be more likely to occur if: too much medicine is taken, the medicine is taken several times a day, or the medicine is taken for more than a few days in a row.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Signs of overdose in children

  1. Changes in behavior
  2. drowsiness or tiredness (severe)
  3. fast or deep breathing

Check with your doctor as soon as possible if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common or rare

  1. Bloody or black, tarry stools
  2. frequent urge to urinate
  3. headache (severe or continuing)
  4. increased blood pressure
  5. loss of appetite (continuing)
  6. mood or mental changes
  7. muscle pain or twitching
  8. ringing or buzzing in ears (continuing)
  9. skin rash, hives, or itching
  10. slow breathing
  11. swelling of face, fingers, ankles, feet, or lower legs
  12. unpleasant taste
  13. unusual tiredness or weakness
  14. vomiting of blood or material that looks like coffee grounds
  15. weight gain (unusual)

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:
