Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

  1. Agitation
  2. anxiety
  3. bleeding gums
  4. bloating
  5. bloody or black, tarry stools
  6. bloody or cloudy urine
  7. blue lips and fingernails
  8. blurred vision
  9. chest pain or discomfort
  10. chills
  11. cold sweats
  12. confusion
  13. constipation
  14. continuing ringing or buzzing or other unexplained noise in the ears
  15. cool, pale skin
  16. coughing that sometimes produces a pink frothy sputum
  17. dark urine
  18. darkening of the skin
  19. depression
  20. diarrhea
  21. difficult, fast, noisy breathing
  22. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  23. drowsiness
  24. dry mouth
  25. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  26. fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat
  27. fever
  28. flushed, dry skin
  29. fruit-like breath odor
  30. general tiredness and weakness
  31. greatly decreased frequency of urination or amount of urine
  32. headache
  33. headache, sudden and severe
  34. hearing loss
  35. heartburn
  36. increased hunger
  37. increased sensitivity to pain
  38. increased sweating
  39. increased thirst
  40. increased urination
  41. indigestion
  42. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or genitals
  43. light-colored stools
  44. loss of appetite
  45. loss of consciousness
  46. muscle cramps, spasms, pain, weakness, or stiffness
  47. muscle tremors
  48. nausea
  49. nervousness
  50. nightmares
  51. numbness and tingling of the face, lips, hands, and feet
  52. overactive reflexes
  53. pains in the stomach, side, or abdomen, possibly radiating to the back
  54. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  55. poor coordination
  56. rapid, deep breathing
  57. restlessness
  58. seizures
  59. severe stomach pain
  60. shakiness
  61. shivering
  62. skin rash
  63. slurred speech
  64. stomach pain, cramping, or burning
  65. sunken eyes
  66. swelling in the legs, feet, or ankles
  67. trembling or shaking
  68. trouble with breathing
  69. twitching
  70. unexplained weight loss
  71. unusual bleeding or bruising
  72. unusual drowsiness, dullness, tiredness, weakness, or feeling of sluggishness
  73. upper right abdominal or stomach pain
  74. vomiting
  75. vomiting of blood or material that looks like coffee grounds
  76. vomiting, severe or continuous
  77. weakness or heaviness of the legs
  78. worsening of pain
  79. wrinkled skin
  80. yellow eyes or skin

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Chest pain or discomfort
  2. cold and clammy skin
  3. coughing that sometimes produces a pink frothy sputum
  4. difficult, fast, noisy breathing
  5. extreme sleepiness
  6. increased sweating
  7. irregular, fast or slow, or shallow breathing
  8. lightheadedness, dizziness or fainting
  9. pale or blue lips, fingernails, or skin
  10. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
  11. swelling in the legs and ankles

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

  1. Belching
  2. clumsiness
  3. low body temperature
  4. sleepiness
  5. weak or feeble pulse
  6. weight gain
