Vivek Kumbhari M.B.Ch.B., Ph.D., has recently joined as a Professor of Medicine and the Chair of the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Mayo Clinic Florida. He was previously the Director of Endoscopy and Director of Bariatric Endoscopy as well as an Associate Professor of Medicine at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Dr. Kumbhari's expertise includes all aspects of flexible endoscopic surgery which include: endoscopic therapies to treat benign and oncologic conditions involving the gastrointestinal tract, managing complications of surgery, and minimally invasive, non-surgical therapies to facilitate weight loss and the treatment of obesity-related diseases Dr. Kumbhari has research interests in endoscopic innovations, interventional endoscopic ultrasonography, submucosal endoscopy, primary weight loss and metabolic therapies, and managing adverse events following surgery. He has contributed to over 250 peer-reviewed publications, book chapters and invited reviews, and speaks both nationally and internationally.
