Shaun E. Gruenbaum, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Gruenbaum is a board certified physician-scientist in the Department of Anesthesiology at Mayo Clinic Florida, where he is a Senior Associate Consultant in Neuroanesthesia. He received his M.D. in 2009 from the Medical School for International Health, a joint collaboration between Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Beer-Sheva, Israel and Columbia University Medical Center in New York, United States. Dr. Gruenbaum completed his residency training in Anesthesiology at Yale university in 2013, and a combined 2-year clinical fellowship in neuroanesthesia and T32 research fellowship in 2015. He completed a Ph.D. in investigative Medicine from Yale University in 2017. Dr. Guenbaum's research interests are in neurometabolism and mechanisms of neuroprotection in animal models, and his clinical interest are in the anesthetic management of patients undergoing brain tumor resection. Dr. Gruenbaum is very active in medical student education and neuroscience research, and has received several awards including a Mentored Research Training Award from the Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research (FAER) and the Paul E. Strandjord Young investigator Award from the Academy of Clinical Laboratory Physicians and Scientists (ACLPS). He currently serve on the Education Committee for the Society of Neuroscience in Anesthesiology and Critical Care (SNACC), where he chairs the PBLD subcommittee.
