Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet
  2. body aches or pain
  3. chills
  4. cough
  5. difficulty breathing
  6. ear congestion
  7. fever
  8. headache
  9. loss of voice
  10. nasal congestion
  11. rapid weight gain
  12. runny nose
  13. sneezing
  14. sore throat
  15. tingling of the hands or feet
  16. unusual tiredness or weakness
  17. unusual weight gain or loss

Less common

  1. Bladder pain
  2. bloody or cloudy urine
  3. blurred vision
  4. chest pain
  5. diarrhea
  6. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  7. dizziness
  8. frequent urge to urinate
  9. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  10. joint pain
  11. loss of appetite
  12. lower back or side pain
  13. muscle aches and pains
  14. nausea
  15. nervousness
  16. pounding in the ears
  17. shivering
  18. slow or fast heartbeat
  19. sweating
  20. trouble sleeping
  21. vomiting

Rare

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain
  2. arm, back, or jaw pain
  3. black, tarry stools
  4. bleeding gums
  5. blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  6. blood in the urine or stools
  7. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  8. chest tightness or heaviness
  9. cold sweats
  10. confusion
  11. constipation
  12. cough or hoarseness
  13. dark urine
  14. difficult or labored breathing
  15. difficulty swallowing
  16. dry mouth
  17. extreme fatigue
  18. fast, irregular, pounding, or racing heartbeat or pulse
  19. feeling of warmth
  20. flushed, dry skin
  21. fruit-like breath odor
  22. hives
  23. increased hunger
  24. increased sweating
  25. increased thirst
  26. increased volume of pale, dilute urine
  27. irregular heartbeat
  28. irritation in the mouth
  29. joint or muscle pain
  30. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  31. lightheadedness, dizziness, or fainting
  32. loss of consciousness
  33. muscle cramps or stiffness
  34. pale, bluish-colored, or cold hands or feet
  35. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  36. rash
  37. redness and swelling of the gums
  38. redness, soreness, or itching skin
  39. severe or sudden headache
  40. sudden loss of coordination
  41. sudden slurring of speech
  42. swollen glands
  43. tightness in the chest
  44. trembling or shaking of the hands or feet
  45. unexplained weight loss
  46. unusual bleeding or bruising
  47. vomiting of blood
  48. weakness in the arms, hands, legs, or feet
  49. weight gain
  50. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. belching
  3. difficulty with moving
  4. heartburn
  5. indigestion
  6. pain or tenderness around the eyes and cheekbones
  7. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness

Rare

  1. Abnormal dreams
  2. ankle, knee, or great toe joint pain
  3. anxiety
  4. bad, unusual, or unpleasant (after) taste
  5. bleeding after defecation
  6. blistering, crusting, irritation, itching, or reddening of the skin
  7. bloody nose
  8. burning feeling in the chest or stomach
  9. burning, dry, or itching eyes
  10. changes in vision
  11. cold and clammy skin
  12. continuing ringing or buzzing or other unexplained noise in the ears
  13. cough producing mucus
  14. cracked, dry, or scaly skin
  15. decreased sexual performance or desire
  16. depression
  17. dry mouth
  18. earache
  19. excess air or gas in the stomach or intestines
  20. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  21. feeling of warmth
  22. full feeling
  23. hair loss or thinning of the hair
  24. headache, severe and throbbing
  25. hearing loss
  26. hives or welts
  27. hyperventilation
  28. inability to have or keep an erection
  29. increased appetite
  30. irritability
  31. lack of feeling or emotion
  32. lack or loss of strength
  33. loose stools
  34. loss of memory
  35. redness of the skin
  36. redness or swelling in the ear
  37. redness, pain, or swelling of the eye, eyelid, or inner lining of the eyelid
  38. restlessness
  39. tenderness in the stomach area
  40. toothache
  41. uncomfortable swelling around the anus

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
