Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Abdominal pain
  2. blurred vision
  3. confusion
  4. decreased urine output
  5. dizziness
  6. drowsiness
  7. dry mouth
  8. fast or irregular heartbeat
  9. flushed, dry skin
  10. fruit-like breath odor
  11. headache
  12. increased hunger
  13. increased thirst
  14. increased urination
  15. irritability
  16. joint pain, stiffness, or swelling
  17. loss of appetite
  18. loss of mental alertness
  19. lower back, side, or stomach pain
  20. mood or mental changes
  21. muscle pain or cramps
  22. nausea or vomiting
  23. numbness or tingling in the hands, feet, or lips
  24. shortness of breath
  25. sweating
  26. swelling of face, hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs
  27. troubled breathing
  28. unexplained weight loss
  29. unusual tiredness or weakness
  30. weak pulse

Rare

  1. Agitation
  2. back pain
  3. black, tarry stools
  4. bleeding gums
  5. blood in the urine or stools
  6. chest pain
  7. convulsions (seizures)
  8. deep or fast breathing with dizziness
  9. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up from a lying or sitting position suddenly
  10. fever
  11. hallucinations
  12. hives
  13. increase in heart rate
  14. increased blood pressure
  15. numbness of feet, hands, and around the mouth
  16. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  17. rapid breathing
  18. stiff neck
  19. sunken eyes
  20. trembling, jerking of hands
  21. unusual bleeding or bruising
  22. weight gain
  23. wrinkled skin

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Difficulty breathing
  2. pain in chest, groin, or legs, especially the calves
  3. severe, sudden headache
  4. slurred speech
  5. sudden loss of coordination
  6. sudden, severe weakness or numbness in the arm or leg
  7. sudden, unexplained shortness of breath
  8. tenderness, pain, swelling, warmth, skin discoloration, and prominent superficial veins over affected area
  9. unusual drowsiness, dullness, or feeling of sluggishness
  10. vision changes

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Rare

  1. Decreased interest in sexual intercourse
  2. diarrhea
  3. difficulty with moving
  4. ear discomfort
  5. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  6. inability to have or keep an erection
  7. itching skin
  8. loss in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
  9. muscle or bone pain
  10. muscle stiffness
  11. nipple tenderness
  12. pain, swelling, or redness in joints
  13. rash
  14. sensation of spinning
  15. shorter than usual time to ejaculation of semen
  16. trouble with hearing
  17. upset stomach
