Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bleeding, blistering, burning, coldness, skin discoloration, feeling of pressure, hives, infection, inflammation, itching, lumps, numbness, pain, rash, redness, scarring, soreness, stinging, swelling, tenderness, tingling, ulceration, or warmth at the injection site
  2. body aches or pain
  3. chest congestion
  4. chills
  5. cough
  6. diarrhea
  7. difficulty with breathing or swallowing
  8. dizziness
  9. ear congestion
  10. fever
  11. headache, severe and throbbing
  12. hives, skin rash
  13. itching, pain, redness, swelling, tenderness, or warmth of the skin
  14. joint pain
  15. loss of appetite
  16. lower back or side pain
  17. muscle aches and pains
  18. nausea
  19. pain or tenderness around the eyes and cheekbones
  20. swelling of the eyes, face, or inside of the nose
  21. sneezing
  22. sore throat
  23. stuffy or runny nose
  24. sweating
  25. tightness in the chest
  26. unusual tiredness or weakness
  27. vomiting

Less common

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. bloody or cloudy urine
  3. discouragement
  4. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  5. fast heartbeat
  6. feeling sad or empty
  7. frequent urge to urinate
  8. hoarseness
  9. irritability
  10. loss of interest or pleasure
  11. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  12. tender, swollen glands in the neck
  13. trouble concentrating
  14. trouble sleeping
  15. unusual bleeding or bruising
  16. voice changes

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:
