You don't have to eliminate dairy products to improve your heart health. But you might need to make some simple swaps. Instead of whole milk and yogurt, choose fat-free or low-fat versions. Avoid milk and yogurt with added flavorings, which usually contain sugar and calories. Also, opt for low-fat or reduced-fat cheese.
Limit butter, ice cream and cream, which are high in saturated fats and calories. Try vegetables or salsa on a baked potato, instead of butter. Use oil and vinegar on a salad, rather than store-bought dressing.
