The Thyroid Disorders Specialty Group provides comprehensive consultations for patients with thyroid disease and individuals suspected of having a thyroid disorder. This typically includes evaluation and treatment of:

  • Abnormal thyroid blood tests
  • Abnormal thyroid scans and ultrasound exams
  • Goiter
  • Graves' disease
  • Graves' ophthalmopathy (GO)
  • Graves' dermopathy/Pretibial myxedema
  • Hashimoto's thyroiditis — select cases
  • Hyperthyroidism
  • Hypothyroidism — select cases
  • Multiple endocrine neoplasia (MEN)
  • Multinodular goiter — toxic or nontoxic
  • Polyglandular Autoimmune Syndrome
  • Thyroiditis/Postpartum thyroid disease
  • Thyroid cancer, all types and stages (in collaboration with medical oncology)
    • Accepting referrals for ethanol ablation of isolated malignant lesions
    • Accepting referrals for active surveillance of small papillary thyroid cancer
  • Thyroid nodules (including fine-needle aspiration biopsies)
    • Accepting referrals for radiofrequency ablation of large, compressive benign thyroid nodules (including toxic nodules)
