OverviewBy Mayo Clinic Staff
Surgeons in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery (ear, nose and throat, or ENT) care for people who have disorders of the head and neck region.
Mayo surgeons perform hundreds of more common procedures, such as removal of the thyroid gland (thyroidectomy) and sinus surgery. But they also perform highly complex surgery such as endoscopic skull base surgery for pituitary tumors and robotic surgery for throat cancer. All of the staff surgeons have been specially trained in ENT and have an average of 15 years of post-training experience.
