You'll meet with experts who listen to your concerns, assess your health and offer optimal care options based on your specific needs. They have specialized training in diagnosing and treating all congenital heart diseases, whether they're simple or complex.

Each year doctors at Mayo Clinic's campuses in Arizona, Florida and Minnesota evaluate and treat more than 9,500 adults with congenital heart disease.

Staff trained in adult congenital heart disease includes doctors trained in heart disease (cardiologists), doctors trained in heart surgery (cardiovascular surgeons), nurses and technicians. Together your care team works with you to develop a personalized treatment plan for your condition.

Interventions for congenital heart disease and related conditions are rapidly evolving. Improvements offered by our doctors include advanced imaging techniques, transcatheter valve prostheses and stem cell therapy. Our cardiovascular surgeons have extensive experience in performing heart surgery to repair congenital heart defects.

Our cardiologists, nurse practitioners and nurses advise and educate you regarding your specific condition and provide you with continuing care. Throughout your life, they are available to consult with you regarding minor surgery, pregnancy, heart surgery or other concerns you may have about your health. Clinic nurses are available by phone to answer your questions and concerns. If you wish, your cardiologist will share your treatment plan with your primary doctor and talk through any questions.
