Bradford (Brad) B. Smith, M.D., is an adult cardiothoracic anesthesiology physician. His clinical focus includes:

  • Providing perioperative anesthetic care for patients requiring heart and lung transplantation and for those with cardiac, thoracic, orthopedic, spine, and vascular disease.
  • Optimizing perioperative care and enhanced recovery in surgical patients.
  • Improving operating room efficiency with multidisciplinary care teams.

Dr. Smith is also highly active in research and medical education. His research and education interests include:

  • Assessing bleeding risk and outcomes in high risk surgical patients.
  • Managing coagulopathy in unique clinical environments.
  • Performing and interpreting perioperative transesophageal echocardiography (TEE).
